"It's like the end of an era!"

goodness gracious it has been a crazy week! Finals are completed! Now we can just enjoy the holidays.
We are so excited to see my brother Timothy, his wife Alyce and their boys Oliver and Jordan! Let the good times roll!
Last night we were excited (though I was bummed at the same time) to watch one of my best friends (since elementary) get set apart for her mission. It was so sweet, and we really felt the spirit strong! Kim will be an amazing missionary with her strong and beautiful testimony! Go Kimmy! :) I'm gonna miss you so much!
Kim was able to take some maternity pics before she left. Here are some of them.

Down to the weekly

We went to the doctors yesterday to get my pelvic. The doc last week said that McKinsie could do the exam, but the doctor forgot, and I was a little distracted during the exam ;). There hasn't been much progress from the last exam except his head is continuing to drop. Rapidly. The sonographer was surprised how low he was. I'm 36 and a half weeks so the baby should be measuring 36-37. However he was measuring at 33-34 so doc was a bit concerned. She had us get an ultrasound to make sure he is growing OK. Everything looked good though. Turns out I'm just "long bodied" which gives him a little extra room to grow.  (he's predisposed to being a small baby anyway) His head is also already so low that the measurements outside of my belly weren't accurate. We were very shocked by his measurements. He should be about 6 lbs but he was measured at 5 lb10 oz. We also found out he has an Oblad head with the Miranda body. (poor kid) His head measured at almost 38 weeks; while his body and legs at 34 weeks. Poor guy is gonna have a giant head and itty bitty body. It was like my nightmare where the baby came out with an newborn's body but Mike's full adult head. EEK! ;) He's perfectly healthy so far though, which is all that matters!

Trip to the Hospital

Yesterday, Kjera described something strange that she was experiencing, and the people she spoke with about it suggested it could be her water breaking. She spoke with an on-call nurse in Labor and Delivery and she told Kjera to go in immediately.
Kjera counted 7 contractions each hour. The poor thing was downtown when she started experiencing the discomfort of the contractions. To make things worse, there was an accident before the freeway, and she found herself stuck in traffic for close to an hour before she could even get onto the freeway to head home.
I left work immediately and headed home to get things ready. I cleaned the house, fed the dogs, and packed all our stuff just in case baby decided to come early. Kjera got home and looked miserable. Between the occasional contractions, and the cold symptomes she has, I wanted to get her to the hospital asap! Once everything was ready, we raced to the hospital.
We arrived to the hospital and checked in. Kjera got into her gown and we waited for the nurse. The first nurse was kind of a grouch (possibly because it was the end of her shift) and she kicked Kinsie and Cicily out of the room. The next nurse was very sweet and did all the tests Kjera enjoyed so much. We had some mixed emotions when we learned all the tests came back negative for any signs of baby coming early.
Baby is already starting to mess with his parents! I guess we are glad he didn't come this early. The longer he is in there, the healthier and stronger he will get. Once it was all over, we were all just a little bummed we'd have to wait a little longer to meet little Kyden. So we did the one thing we knew would make us feel better:

2 YEARS baybuh

Mike and  I have been married for two years, and sealed for one. With a baby on the way our lives are about to change, but not completely. We are, and have remained head over heals for each other! We woke up this morning with the same thought. As I was about to sneak down to make him breakfast, he asked me "what do you want for breakfast". So we made it together :)
Here are some pics of our wedding, and 1 year anniversary (Temple wedding).

Marqi was a surprise :)
